Just for Fun!
Welcome to Chicken Scratch: Just for Fun! (104/27/77)
Sabian Symbolism (104) : A very old man facing a dark space to the northeast.
For months I have wondered about this image. What does it mean? What is it trying to tell me? When I chose this title for my page, the meaning began to connect for me. “ChickenScratch: Just for Fun” is about facing your fears by embracing and applying the words – Just for Fun.
You know that term. It’s the one friends use when they get you to do something right? “Do it just for the fun of it.” they say. “Come on, it’s fun!” But all the while we are staring at the invitation like it’s a dark and foreboding space. Terror arises. The fear of the unknown grips you and you have just acknowledged the “very old man” inside of you.
What’s really so interesting for me, is that this particular symbol falls on “Independence Day” in the United States – July 4th. And doesn’t that make sense? Many times we block our opportunities for true independence because we fear the new. Wondering and worrying what will happen. It creates within us a feeling of being very old.
I know this was my problem. I have always been afraid of the unknown. What will people say? Will I be safe? I was always afraid to use my “voice” (27) and tell it like it is. That “voice” belongs to the “child” (27) within. But the counter to that fear of expressing that “child voice” is to just do something for fun. When you do, it takes the pressure off. It is not a full commitment. It’s like the easy excuse when someone wants to criticize, right? What do we say? Oh it was just something I did for fun.
Well the posts under this page will be a testimony to my new found Independence and doing something “just for fun!” And what I noticed is that when I did something “just for fun”, I felt good. Any obstacle became a laughfest because it wasn’t a serious endeavor. And any rewards were icing on the cake – because I didn’t take myself so seriously and enjoyed the process. That is the personality of “ChickenScratch: Just for Fun.” (104/27/77)
Sabian Symbolism (77) : The head of a robust youth changes into that of a mature thinker.
“Are you listening?” “This is your year.”
Truly, this is the message of the universe. Our “child/voice” is a “talented/oracle”. But in order to use it we must first decide, “are we listening” to the voice? It is the voice of fun and relaxed engagement in life. Is this your year to find it? And don’t let the belief that a childhood filled with problems left you without a voice. NOT TRUE! It is there, hidden and waiting for you to discover it. Find your fun! Your talented oracle of truth. Make this your year!
May the energy and love expressed through these pages encourage you to do more – “just for fun.
