Question: How do I identify my soulmate?
There is no short answer to this question. The first thing to know is that in general, there are many kinds of relationships, but I am going to touch on 3.
2) Past Life SoulMate relationships
3) Present Life SoulMate relationships.
KARMIC RELATIONSHIPS
Karmic relationships enter our lives to help us right a spiritual wrong. These can be either love or friendship connections that offer settlement for past life debts, or offer some gift or reward for the good that you have done.
You can recognize when you are in a debt settlement karmic situation because things tend to begin really well, but in the middle turn sideways. These often end poorly, leaving you with less than you started with in the beginning. However, they tend to leave you wiser, and hopefully more compassionate to others. These are ALWAYS teaching relationships. I have had both love and friend relationships in this category.
PAST LIFE SOULMATE RELATIONSHIPS
Past Life SoulMate relationships enter our lives for 2 reasons. The first is that something occurred in a past life where the lessons between the two of you were interrupted or unfinished, and you have chosen to revisit this relationship in your present incarnation.
These relationships are identified by a strange vibe that you have seen them before, that you were connected in a past life before, or a sense that you just need to be with this person. A strong magnetic attraction is also a good indicator that something more is going on. These relationships can end smoothly or abruptly, and can last for years.
The second reason for past life relationships to enter your life is because you have forgotten the lesson you learned with them, and instead of moving forward with your new lessons, choose to return to the past and re-visit old lessons.
You can identify these relationships because that little voice inside hints to you that something is off with your partner, but you choose to ignore the hints. You are almost always forewarned that this relationship will fail, or that something is not going to work out. These relationships do not work well, and in the end you are left with that sense that you made a mistake, and you beat yourself up for not listening.
PRESENT LIFE SOULMATE RELATIONSHIPS
Present life soulmate relationships enter our lives depending on our soul contracts. With some people, they are meant to share their entire lives together, and often meet early in their teens or twenties. These relationships are identified by that “Hey you” kind of attraction. You notice the person and something about them just sticks with you. The key: look into your partner’s eyes and you should see yourself in them. With soulmates in present day, your heart tends to lead and you really FEEL that SOUL connection. He gets you, and yo get him.
This is truly a relationship where the interlocking rings of the picture below signifies true connection. This is a compatible relationship. True present day soulmates are meant to transcend the past, and move toward the future. Special spiritual lessons have been designed for you to tackle TWO-GETHER. In fact the word “soulmate” is a 7 energy – showing both spiritual and partnership goals by becoming “WE.”
Caution: Finding and marrying your soulmate DOES NOT automatically bring the fairy tale ending. There is work to do together based on your spiritual contracts, and lessons to learn. If either one of you does not live up to his/her end of the contract, your relationship will end. This is how your next life, past life soulmate relationships are born. 
SPECIAL NOTE: TIMING. Many people must begin their life finishing karmic and past life connections BEFORE a present life soulmate arrives. Astrologically, we always begin life resting on our South Nodes, or previous comfort zone from past lives, before we can journey toward our North Nodes and new lessons. I can tell you that this has been my personal experience. I was not to meet my present day soulmate until after I reached my 40′s.
