Why We Are Afraid to Be Still – Part Three
Don’t be a doer, just surrender. Let there be a let-go.” – Osho
So here I am, back in the blackness of my mind – understanding my fear and feeling the threat of the darkness dissolve. No one was coming out of the woodworks to get me. No one was coming where I wouldn’t “see” them. And I began to feel a sense of safety. Physically I began to droop. I noticed also a change in my “mind vision.” It was almost surreal. I realized that I was different. Not just from this one meditation, but from the work I have been doing all along.
And then, that thought brought me the revelation of SURRENDER.
Hmm………. Hmmm. ………. Yes, I “see.”
And I relaxed some more. “This is how you TRUST.” I thought. Hmm …… TRUST.
But will we? We fear the stillness of SURRENDER….. of letting go and allowing those times in our lives when we cannot “see.”..when we have NO CONTROL over what goes on- to just happen. We fear the times that make us feel HELPLESS.
But that is only because we don’t trust in the power of ourselves, and the knowledge that it is safe for us to use that power. We don’t trust that in the dark, stillness of these times, there is light in the revelation. Power is there for the taking – but we must embrace the stillness of the dark times and let that strength reveal itself.
We must agree that we cannot “know it all.” Experience must come as the life teacher who offers us opportunities to reveal the strength inside. There cannot be dark without light.
We must embrace the darkness. “I am blind and now I see.”
We must embrace the stillness. “The truth shall set us free.”
We must embrace the blackness of our lives. ”Man has nothing else to do but surrender- in deep trust.”
We must seek the light – in the deepest of darkness – and be still.
